I hope your Baltimore trip was a pleasure and did not tire you. Personally I shall be glad when you don't exert yourself so often in making addresses (you remember you told me you were tired after the one in Cleveland) but I have come to realize that I have very little influence with you, so I suppose you will continue whenever the spirit moves you. This will reach you as the men are at work, and I know it will be a sickening day for you — but, as you have so often said, Life is not pretty. You will note that I took the extreme (!!) liberty of having O'Malley bid on your books. Of course I know you will wish to keep some of them, but in view of the high cost of boxing ($2.50 per box) casting to the warehouse and high storage charges, I think you would be very foolish not to sell the majority of them. It is unlikely that you will ever care to consult most of them again. Of course you can have O'Malley come over and give a revised estimate on after removing the books you feel you must keep. The book case is very ugly and I hope we need never have it in any other apartment. The cost of buying Wernecke's to hold all these books will be great, for you have to pay 7.75 (if I remember correctly) per unit and have, also to buy "tops" and "bases." Instead of being out a considerable sum, you could gain something if you could bring yourself to sell. It is understood that the books are to be packed on the seventh, if I remember Mr. Delson's letter. This date was not of my setting. Hence you'd have to get after the matter at once. O'Malley's phone is I think End 0999. I hope the trunks sent for me to Hotel Cardinal will bear my name and apt. number 1703. I told the porter "Joe" at The Cardinal to keep them until my arrival. I only hope he is honest and has a safe place to keep the trunks. Mr. Brunelle will probably wish to rent the rooms transiently until the date I have agreed to take them, Mar. 15. Hence the trunks couldn't stay in my apt. until March 15. Also, I think they might be safer with "Joe" than in Apt. 1703. I want Westcott's to take the trunks there because they will get a receipt and some one-horse fellow obtained by The San Remo porter might not. As you and I said, it will be far cheaper to pay an express man than to have The Metropolitan Storage people do the carting. About the vista window glass, I went to the precaution of writing them a second letter yesterday, to make sure that they would not remove the glass before March 16. All this was (apparrently [sic]) perfectly clearly understood over the 'phone, but they have now my letter also. I told them they must not take the glass before the 16th. I do hope you will not come home some night tired and find the glass gone. Also, I told George Bensen, the second hand man, that you had changed your plans and were not going to leave until March 16, and for that reason that he would have to wait until then to call for your furniture. Please leave word, or a note, at the office of the San Remo to let Mr. Bensen into the apt. to get what is left there after you go.
